Batuwangala Maha Vidyalaya selected its Board Of prefects for the year of 2010 last week.The Bord of prefects are consist of 20 students where the previous prefects still active.This time our chief guests was MOH of Neluwa area Mr.Kalum Lankeswaram,Mr.K.Chathura Mihidum,Assistant Divisional Secretary,Divisional Secretariat-Neluwa and Sub Inspector of Neluwa Police Mr.Nagarathne.The head prefect selected was Priyantha Pushpakumara of Grade 13,from Boys and Nirosha Priyadarshani of Grade 13,from Girls.

Deputy head prefect for Boys is Dilip Madhushanka from Grade 11 and Deputy Head Prefect For Girls is Ayeshika Madhushani from Grade 11.We would like to thank our former Prefect Bord patron Mr.Chinthaka Chandrakumara for his countribution towards our new board of Prefects and we wish him all the best with his new Job.We also thankful to our Principal Thilaka Wijenayake for her Guidance.

Chinthaka Chandrakumara the sinhala and civic education teacher was moved Form Batuwangala Maha Vidyalaya for new career at University of colombo,Department of Psychology.This is a tribune to Grete teacher we had here.
From the day he stepped in to BMV he was enough humble to get down with us for anything we wanted.Along with Anuna Sir and Mahesh Sir he guided us from the beginning.The specialty with Cinthaka sir was he had his own way of handling and tackling problems with out conflict.He was our Sinhala and Civic education teacher but was more than a soft friend.
Under his guidance the Board of prefects were working and his planning was behind most of co curricular activities.The sport meet,Sinhala literary Association,Morning Assembly are some of event decorated by Chinthaka Sir and of course he was the Assistant manager of Computer Learning Center.
Mother Sri lanka debate series was concluded last year resulting Batuwangala Maha Vidyalaya the runners up southern province.Chinthaka sir was our back born with this and it is he who did the planning most.It is difficult to us to be in the school with out him now a days.We really miss him.According to his own vision nothing is permanent than changing.We wish him all the very best for his future and we know he will be in our hearts forever.

Dharamsiri Werasinghe - Petroleum and Oil field development Engineer in London visited us during the very first week of this new year.Mr.Dharmasiri was the force behind every of our motive for last year while we were struggling to sustain.he came forward and helped us to Continue our activities.With him His brother Dr.Ananda Weerasinghe - Retired CAS officer, QA consultant now living in New Zealand and His Wife Dr. Mala Weerasinghe - Consultant Anesthetist in London,One of his friend Mr. A.P. Gunaratne - Former Principal, Ananada College Colombo and Dharmaraja College Kandy,and Mr. Daham Gunaratne - IT Project Manager, London came to visit us.
This was a valuable meeting for us Batuwangala Maha Vidyalaya.During their visit they talked to the principal,Aruna Sir and to our students.one of our student Madhushika kaushalya was given a scholarship by Dr. Mala Weerasinghe - Consultant Anesthetist in London for her studies.The group of visitors went to see our picohydro power plant also and Mr.Dharmasiri gave us some valuble advices regarding our water filtering process.

We would like to thank Mr.Dharmasiri for helping us to go on with our ICT base activities and for his great concerns regarding Batuwangala Maha Vidyalaya.Thank you Mr.Dharmasi.Thank you very much.

Batwangala Maha Vidyalaya's students went to see Hambanthota Port last week.The field trip was organized to give a chance to the students to see the port and its building process.Principal Thilaka Wijenayake herself organized this with the help of the staff of BMV and she went on the field trip with the students.
First place to visit was The Agricultural farm at Bataatha.This was a place where students could see lot of agricultural specimens in real.Mr.Mahesh Wickramasuriya,The Ari teacher of BMV took the opportunity to describe each and every thing to the students.
Then Students went to see the Hambanthota building Port.They were happy to see such huge project lively and the mechanism there.Students were almost amazed by the huge construction equipments.Students were able to see the structure of the port.
Batuwangala Maha Vidyalaya is more concern on renewable energy sources.Students could see the wind power electricity generating project.The huge fans which rotates using wind power amazed the students.
Then students went to see the process of making table salt. They could see the salt pan and see the process of converting sea water in to table salt.After that we left for hot water wells at Madunagala.This was another place the students could see the natural wonder of hot water wells.
Finally we went to the Hambanthota beach on the way back to the school.Students were left along to play on the beach for more than hour.All the students were very happy and a successful field trip was finished.
